Jonathan Young, President / Rookies and Dribblers’ Instructor / High School Coach: The founder of Foothill Hoops Basketball, Jonathan is the former year-round Sports Coordinator for the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA from 1997-2000 and coordinated the YMCA Summer Basketball program from 1997 - 2002. He also helped to create and develop the YMCA's Jr. High Basketball program. In 2001 and 2002 he served as League Director for Craig Impelman’s LCMG Basketball Camps (formally known as John Wooden Camp) in Pasadena and as the basketball instructor for the M.E.P. program in La Crescenta. His educational background includes work in developmental and sports psychology and he holds degrees in Psychology and Sports Management from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also holds certifications as a personal trainer from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the Equinox Fitness Training Institute. While not in season with Foothill Hoops, Jonathan coaches in New York City as part of the "Kids in Sports" program while pursuing a Master's Degree in Education. In the Crescenta-Canada community, Jonathan has coached over 25 youth sports teams ranging in ages 3 to high school.

 

 Paul Young, League Director / CMO / Webmaster: Paul is currently a full time graduate student at the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Riverside (UCR), and is working towards his Master's in Business Administration. He recently completed his undergraduate work and received his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, with a focus in marketing, from UCR.  Paul's basketball background includes 4 years of refereeing at the YMCA, under the watchful eye of mentor John Ercole, as well as some assistant coaching. Although he played several seasons of basketball in his younger ages, Paul's favorite sport is golf. He played on the Crescenta Valley High Varsity Team for 4 straight years, and was captain in his senior year. In basketball, Paul has served as an assistant coach, head coach, and is a current a League Director, as well as the Marketing and Website Manager. Paul coordinated the 2008 Spring League with Cris Boiles, as well as the 2008/2009 summer league season.  He has also been Assistant Director and Equipment Manager for the Foothill Hoops travel teams. He is currently the Spring 2010 League Program Initiator, and League Director. He hopes to continue working in the sports industry, with a position that focuses on management and marketing, and that allows for creativity.




 
Cris Boiles, League Direcor / Jr. High and High School Coach:
Cris assistant coaches for Crescenta Valley High, for both the Freshman Football and Girls' Varsity Basketball teams. As a student at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, he is majoring in Political Science and History, two subjects that he has always enjoyed. Cris would like to teach after he is done with his schooling. Before going to college, Cris attended CV High School where he played football for four year and received All Pacific League Honors as a senior. Cris first started working with Children at the YMCA as a volunteer coach in 2001, and he now coaches in the Jr. High and High School Divsions.


 
Rebecca Chadwick, Dribblers Instructor / Staff Coordinator:
Rebecca graduated in 2006 as valedictorian of Sierra Nevada College in Lake Tahoe.  She completed her BA in Psychology and will continue her education in the fall at Sonoma State University.  There she will pursue a master's degree in counseling and a school counseling credential.  Rebecca has worked with children since she herself was one, starting at the YMCA as a coach, then referee, and finally, helping to coordinate their youth sports program. She also spends countless hours volunteering in classrooms at Monte Vista Elementary, where her mom teaches second grade.  She has worked with Foothill Hoops since the program began.

Tyler Ose, Youth Official / Boys 11u Travel Team Coach:
Tyler Ose, a senior at LCHS, has loved basketball every since he was introduced to the sport in kindergarten.  While in 5th grade at the local YMCA, where Jonathan Young was head of the league, Tyler was introduced to coaching.  Ever since then he has coached several teams at the YMCA, the Spartan League, and Foothill Hoops. While Tyler was playing ball at the Y in the Junior High league, he thought his basketball career was coming to an end; but he soon realized that it was only beginning - that's when he was introduced to reffing youth basketball.  Ever since then he has been reffing season after season.  Tyler is now a coach and official for Foothill Hoops and greatly enjoys this opportunity to still have a great time with basketball.

Mona Seraji, Youth Official and Jr. High Girls' Coach:
Mona is currently a sophomore at Pasadena City College majoring in Psychology. She hopes to soon finish her general education courses and transfer to Cal State Long Beach. Mona graduated from Crescenta Valley High School in 2005 where she played basketball for three of her four years. Mona has been a part of the Foothill Hoops organization for 3 years and she enjoys coaching the kids and teaching them skills that will further improve their game.
