Our Mission:  We provide a well organized and high quality youth basketball expereince that emphasizes fun, skill development, confidence building, and character enhancement, all within a safe and friendly environment.

Our Values: Age appropriate drills and goals, instruction methods, and competition level are are based on research. We always strive to keep winning and losing in proper perspective. We hope to build the skills, confidence, and love for the game of basketball that is necessary as a base for advanced competition.

Brooke de Lench, author of "Home Team Advantage: The Critical Role of Mothers in Youth Sports", recently wrote this article about how to identify a good youth sports program. We feel that her criteria sums up very well what we do at Foothill Hoops. Click here to read the article

When and where are practices and games? All practices and games will be held locally in La Crescenta, La Canada, and Altadena. Practices are once a week, on weekday evenings (after 5:00 pm), and games are on Saturdays. Some events may be held on Sundays (after 1:00 pm).

Who coaches? Foothill Hoops is grateful to our volunteers who coach our Youth (ages 6-11) and Jr. High (ages 12-14) teams. Moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, and older siblings are all welcome and may volunteer as either a head-coach or as an assistant. Anyone who coaches will go through a mandatory coaches’ training Hoops Staff assistance and support will be provided throughout the season. Foothill Hoops staff coaches all Rookies (age 3), Dribblers (ages 4-5), and High School (ages 15-17) teams, and Fall Travel Teams.

Are there any try-outs? There are NO try-outs as everyone is guaranteed to make a team. There will be, however, mandatory Player Assessment Days for each season. These assessments are necessary to create balanced teams within each division.

How are the teams made? Our nuetral Foothill Hoops staff does all of the evaluating at the Player Assessment Days. We DO NOT have parent volunteers evaluate, nor do they draft the teams. Instead, our League Directors create the teams as evenly as possible based on the skills assessment.
